Ronclosure!
Crown Solicitor.

It should be understood that in
the absence on leave of the Crown Solicitor the Land
Officer should act for him.
As I propose a higher salary than
the Land Officer draws, these acting appointments will in a
measure compensate the Land Officer for extra work imposed
upon him. Extra work will also fall on the Official Re-
-ceiver. The latter is in any case a very important post,
and I consider that it should
for this double reason be
raised to the second class.

It is necessary that the Crown
Solicitor should have a capable interpreter and, on the
assumption that the time of the Interpreters and Clerks
in the Land Office as at present constituted is fully
occupied, the additional Staff shewn in the attached
schedule will in my opinion be necessary.
6.
The salary of the Crow Solicitor
should in my opinion be not less than £900
£1,080 the
sterling equivalent of the salary of a First Class poat
on the dollar basis.
7.
In the schedule I have inserted
an estimate for the furnishing of the Crown Solicitor's
Office
